Last week, at our Moore Johannesburg, Women’s Day function, we had the privilege of celebrating a remarkable statistic, that two-thirds of our workforce is made up of women. This isn’t just a number, it’s a reflection of the vibrant, diverse, and dynamic community of women that make up our workplace. When we get the chance to take a step back and look around, we get to see, not only our colleagues, but potential mentors, allies, and friends. We see women who understand the unique challenges we face and who can offer guidance and support as we navigate both our personal and professional lives.
Celebrating Our Shared Journeys
In today’s world, where balancing work, family, and personal growth can be overwhelming, the connections we form with other women can be a lifeline. These connections are forged in the shared experiences of juggling deadlines and daycare, managing teams and households, and striving for both professional success and personal fulfillment.
At our Women’s Day function, it became clear that our office is more than just a place of work, it’s a community where women can lean on each other for support. Whether it’s sharing advice on career progression, offering a listening ear during tough times, or simply celebrating each other’s successes, the connections we build here are invaluable. I have always been very lucky to share my work environment with so many incredible women, who not only challenge and inspire me but are also there for me to lean on in difficult times.
Finding Mentorship and Support
One of the most powerful ways we can leverage the strong female presence in our office is through mentorship. Finding a mentor, someone who has walked a similar path and can offer insights and encouragement, can be transformative.
